Wholesale terms glossary for hemp retailers: case packs, MOQ, COA and more

Updated October 20, 2026

A wholesale terms glossary gives store buyers short, plain definitions for the words suppliers use on order forms, invoices and product pages. The terms below fall into four groups: ordering, inventory, product and lab, and selling.

Zigg Distro is a wholesale distributor of THCa flower, vapes, concentrates, gummies and hemp-derived THC beverages. It sells to retailers, smoke shops and distributors. Where a term connects to a Zigg Distro page, the link appears next to the definition.

Ordering terms: case pack, unit, MOQ and first order

These words show up before a store places its first purchase. Knowing them makes product pages and order forms faster to read.

  • Case pack: the number of sellable units packed together in one shipping case. In practice, a store orders by the case and sells by the unit.
  • Unit: one sellable item, such as one vape, one jar or one pack of gummies.
  • MOQ: minimum order quantity, the smallest amount a supplier will sell on one order or for one item. The product page or the supplier states it.
  • First order: the opening purchase on a new wholesale account. Zigg Distro has a page on its first wholesale order offer.
  • Wholesale account: the buyer account a store opens to order at wholesale. The steps are on How to open a Zigg Distro wholesale account.

Some items sell in bulk instead of case packs. Zigg Distro lists bulk flower by the pound in the Bulk Flower LBS category.

Ordering terms: reorder, lead time and net terms

  • Reorder: a repeat purchase of an item the store already carries.
  • Lead time: the time between placing an order and having it on the shelf. It includes processing and transit.
  • Net terms: an invoice arrangement that sets how many days a buyer has to pay after delivery. Terms vary by supplier and account.
  • Packing list: the document inside a shipment that lists what was packed. Staff compare it against the boxes on arrival.

Shipping details shape lead time. Zigg Distro ships nationwide. Shipping terms are on the Shipping & Returns page.

Inventory terms: back stock, par level and reorder point

Inventory terms describe how much product a store holds and where it sits.

  • Back stock: units held in a back room or drawer, not on the sales floor.
  • Par level: the target quantity a store wants on hand for an item after each restock.
  • Reorder point: the count at which staff place the next order so the shelf does not run empty.
  • Shrink: inventory lost to theft, damage or counting errors.
  • Receiving: the check-in step where a shipment is counted against the packing list.

For more detail, see Reorder point retail planning and the receiving inventory process guide.

Product and lab terms: SKU, COA and lot reference

  • SKU: stock keeping unit, a code for one specific product in one specific format.
  • COA: the common abbreviation for a laboratory report on a product sample.
  • Lot reference: the batch or sample code that ties a report to a production run.
  • House brand: a brand a distributor owns and sells itself. Zigg Distro carries the Freezo and KronTON house brands.
  • Resold line: a brand the distributor carries but does not own. Zigg Distro also carries ATreez and Breeze.

Zigg Distro places a lab report link inside the product description on product pages that carry one. To check a report, match the product name, the product format and the lot or sample reference against the package in hand.

A matching product name on its own is not a match. A laboratory sample reference is not always the same number as the batch code on a package. Ask the store when the two do not line up. The guide How to read a COA before you stock a hemp product walks through the steps.

Selling terms: sell-through, facing and distributor

  • Sell-through: the share of received units that sold over a set period. It shows which items move.
  • Facing: one product front turned toward shoppers on a shelf or in a case. More facings give an item more visible space.
  • Distributor: a business that buys from makers and resells to stores, often across several brands.
  • Planogram: a drawing that shows where each item sits on a shelf or wall.

Sell-through and facings work together. Items with steady sell-through often earn more facings, and slow items lose space.

How the terms apply on Zigg Distro pages

Zigg Distro product pages show format and brand, and the product page shows what can be ordered. Flower guides such as Wholesale THCa flower: Freezo strains in case packs use case pack language.

Concentrates such as Breath Mintz THCA Live Rosin sit in the concentrates category. Bulk items such as Cereal Milk - 1 LB (Hybrid) sell by the pound. The Hemp wholesale page covers the full range.
